First check what is the partition table using either fdisk or parted:. fdisk /dev/GRUBDISK -l and look for Disklabel type:.. Disklabel type: gpt means GPT.; Disklabel type: dos means MBR.; no Disklabel type: probably means partition table is missing.

It seems, that the RAM of 1GB (-videoram) is not sufficient to install a devuan server, also it could once be done as an upgrade from the debian history. there is no top and the ps of busybox has no options. so I cannot see how much RAM is in use. silently fails the installer without telling the true reason, why the install must fail
